The Jewish Museum Berlin Foundation, which is directly linked to the federal government, wants to do justice to its multi-layered networked offering and strong interest in exchange with a fundamentally reorganised website. A consistent departure from hierarchically organised content in favour of a taxonomy-based network forms the basis.
The multilingual website takes into account the editorial “user experience” of various departments and is implemented in a barrier-free, responsive design. A particular challenge was the requirement to be able to create several teasers for a piece of content, which are displayed according to a sophisticated multidimensional logic based on context.
The digital asset management takes into account CC licences, context-related metadata and accessible playback including subtitles. We supported the migration of content from the old CMS WebEdition and other databases with import functions. The search function based on Apache Solr also takes into account the inclusion of customised microsites.
This project was nominated for a Splash Award in 2017.
